Ukrainian Students Prepare Lo Tishkach Projects at Seminar in Crimea
About 50 students from Jewish communities across Ukraine took part in a Lo Tishkach seminar in Bakhchisaray in Crimea in July. Participants presented their micro-projects for historical research and practical restoration work at Jewish burial sites in their local regions.
The students received lectures from experts in Ukrainian Jewish history as well as on how to structure budgets, plan projects and mobilise youth activists in their local communities.
During the event, Jewish heritage researchers Artem Fedorchuk and Kate Malakhova guided the participants around heritage sites in the area where students learned the practical aspects of survey work.
The seminar is part of the second stage of educational events in Ukraine aimed at creating cadres of young leaders in Ukraine’s Jewish communities to protect the Jewish heritage of their regions and is part of an ongoing three-year project of the Lo Tishkach Foundation supported by the Genesis Philanthropy Group.
