The Lo Tishkach Foundation is currently working in co-operation with MAZSIT, the Foundation for Jewish Cemeteries in Hungary, to review the data on the country’s Jewish cemeteries held by both organisations. Both Lo Tishkach and MAZSIT maintain extensive databases of around 1,300 Jewish burial grounds in Hungary. |
According to estimations, further archival and field research is likely to yield data on approximately 300 additional Jewish cemeteries.
Founded in 2005 and relying on private donations, MAZSIT documents and maintains Jewish cemeteries in Hungary.
Established in 2006, the Lo Tishkach database of European Jewish burial grounds now contains over 9,000 listings in some 36 European countries.
