Lo Tishkach has published its latest report into the state of the Jewish cemeteries and Holocaust-era mass graves in the northern Latvian region of Vidzeme, including the capital Riga. The report outlines the current situation and location of eleven Jewish cemeteries and 28 mass grave sites.

The board and staff of the Lo Tishkach Foundation are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved founder and board member, Rabbi Aba Dunner, Zecher Tzadik Livracha. Aba’s vision for a European-based comprehensive database of European Jewish burial sites was the foundation stone of all our work and his commitment to the preservation of Jewish heritage in Europe an inspiration and guiding light for all of us. We will miss him dearly. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Charlotte and to all his family.
Following Lo Tishkach survey expeditions in several districts of Ukraine’s Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia) region, clean-up works were recently carried out at the Jewish cemetery in Rus’ki Komarivtsi with the help of a private American funder. Located in the Uzzhorodskyi (Ungver) district, this historic Jewish burial site was established in the first half of the 19th century and the oldest gravestone at the site dates back to 1900.
