As the first Lo Tishkach survey report on the state of Jewish cemeteries in the Uzhhorod district of Ukrainian Transcarpathia is nearing completion, another expedition took place in the region, assessing the rich heritage of Jewish burial sites in the another five districts (‘raion’ in Ukrainian) of the region.

Between May 3 and 8, a group of students visited 45 Jewish cemeteries in the five raions of Svalyava, Perechin, Mezhgiriya, Volovets and Velikiy Berezniy. The surveys took place under the guidance of Jewish heritage specialists Katya Malakhova and Artem Fedorchuk. The survey results are currently being processed and will be added to the Lo Tishkach database. A special publication about these sites will be released over the coming months.

The surveys are carried out by the Center of Jewish Education in Ukraine (CJEU).
