Bones removed from a medieval Jewish cemetery in Toledo, Spain, which were discovered last year during construction work at the site, were reburied on Sunday in their original tombs. Last November, bones from 105 graves had been unearthed while construction took place to extend a secondary school in Toledo.

Following the completion of preliminary legislative research on the situation for Jewish burial grounds in Hungary and Ukraine, new pieces of legislation have been added to the Lo Tishkach online compendium.
Established in 1775 as a municipal cemetery, the land on which Oradea (Velenta) Jewish cemetery is located was purchased by the local Jewish community in 1800. The first burial took place in 1801; the last in 1952. The cemetery is located off a public road, is fenced and has a lockable gate
The Lo Tishkach Foundation has completed a report on legislation and practice relating to the protection and preservation of Jewish burial grounds in Ukraine. The survey, based on preliminary research, finds that most of the country’s Jewish burial grounds – cemeteries as well as mass graves – lack proper demarcation, identification and regular maintenance.
