The Lo Tishkach Foundation is currently working in co-operation with MAZSIT, the Foundation for Jewish Cemeteries in Hungary, to review the data on the country’s Jewish cemeteries held by both organisations. Both Lo Tishkach and MAZSIT maintain extensive databases of around 1,300 Jewish burial grounds in Hungary.
The Lo Tishkach Foundation has completed a report on legislation and practice relating to the protection and preservation of Jewish burial grounds in Hungary. The survey, based on preliminary research, finds that more than 800 of the country’s approximately 1,300 Jewish cemeteries lack regular maintenance.

Approximately 10,000 graves are located in the cemetery, which is about 250 metres wide and 550 metres long. Rabbi Levi Yitzhak’s grave is protected by an ohel. Vegetation overgrowth threatens numerous graves.
The Lo Tishkach Foundation is currently working in co-operation with the Central Archive for Research on the History of Jews in Germany (Zentralarchiv zur Erforschung der Geschichte der Juden in Deutschland) to review the data on Jewish cemeteries in Germany held by both organisations.
