Each day, as cemetery reports flow in to the Lo Tishkach database unit from our operatives in eastern Europe, these records are translated from the original languages and, together with hundreds of photographs, are uploaded onto the database to provide an up-to-date record of the cemetery or mass grave situation.

Building on the success of two years of education projects and cemetery and mass grave surveys across Ukraine and the Baltic States, Lo Tishkach is launching a new project cycle aimed at identifying and training young leaders in the field of Jewish heritage.

Following extensive surveys into the state of mass grave sites undertaken by Lo Tishkach in the Kyiv region in 2009-10, students belonging to the Ukrainian Union of Jewish Students have now cleaned and restored the mass grave site in Boiarka in Kyiv oblast.

The remit of Lo Tishkach is to work for the physical identification and memorialisation on site of Jewish burial grounds in Europe and for their demarcation and protection. To achieve this, our website and database preserves for the historical record the existence of these sites – the first stage in ensuring their protection.
