May 2010

About 100 youth involved in the Lithuanian Lo Tishkach project attended a seminar in the Lithuanian town of Trakai during the first weekend of May. In the course of the seminar, participants learnt about Jewish cemetery and heritage issues and visited a local Holocaust mass grave site.

Participants also had an opportunity to learn and discuss techniques for surveying Jewish cemeteries and mass grave sites, which will help them compile data about all 400 Jewish burial sites in Lithuania during this project year. The survey part of the project was launched after the seminar ended.

Both Lithuanian and international Jewish heritage experts lectured at the seminar, which was organised by the Jewish Community of Lithuania.
