Discussions over the state of the hundreds of Jewish burial sites in Ukraine were held with senior leaders of the country’s major churches during a visit of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations to Brussels on Wednesday, 6 March 2013. The leaders also brought up similar issues during meetings at the European Commission.
Upon the invitation of Rabbi Yaakov D. Bleich, Chief Rabbi of Kiev and Ukraine and Co-Chair of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, Elimelech Bindinger, executive director of LT met individually with several members of the delegation and shared concerns over the future of the many neglected Jewish heritage sites in Ukraine.
